Jatin-Lalit have done wonders: the soundtrack is fresh, Shaan sounds as if he will run away with the best singer award, and Kailash sounds as good as he did in Kailasa (his debut album). Rendered by Shaan and Kailash Kher, it is clear that we are not in for the usual average music, whether it is Pyaare Mohan or Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. The album begins with Chand Sifarish, currently being aired on every channel of every hour. What is important here is that Jatin-Lalit have left their place vacant for a long time now, and their return marks the end of their journey in Bollywood. So let us see whether Fanaa can recreate Jatin-Lalit’s old melody. The last few months have been one of the most disappointing ones for me, as a supporter of classy music versus ordinary trash we hear every week. Directed by Kunal Kohli, Fanaa boasts of a stellar cast with Aamir Khan and Kajol joining hands. The last time they were in the limelight was for another Yash Raj production, Hum Tum- an immediate success. This time they have opted for Jatin-Lalit, who have been out of the news for quite some time now. Yash Raj Films in the last few years has offered us pure class, whether it is Dhoom’s foot tapping numbers or Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s addictive Bunty aur Babli, the result has been the same: exceptional work bringing success. You cannot walk into love with tiny steps, wearing a steel armor and praying not to get hurt. It puts to shame our cautiousness, rigid moral standards, emotional walls etc in love. This movie, in some ways, is a lesson in love. It also asks, importantly, how much can love forgive? Put yourself in the place of these characters as you watch the movie and see how much is asked of you at each step, what strength is required to make the choices they make. The importance of choice is given the limelight in this movie- the choices that are so unique and personal to each of us, given the same situation.

But the movie goes deeper and makes one think about the power of love and our utter helplessness before it. The background scores are worth more than a mention. True, Aamir and Kajol have performed brilliantly, the cinematography is excellent and the music heavenly. There are a few bloopers, of course, but they may be easily overlooked, an easy enough thing for sensible and regular watchers of Indian cinema. Official Sourceįanaa- This truly is a good movie- not just in the entertaining sense. What Zooni doesn't know is that Rehan has another side to his life-something that can not only change her life, but can also destroy it. Zooni sees Delhi, life, and love like she never has before, because of Rehan. He promises her that the time spent with him will be the most precious in all her life. Is this really the right choice? Rehan is fascinated by Zooni and wants her to see life as it should be seen, in its many colours. It is now her time to discover life and love. Her friends warn her against this good-for-nothing roadside Romeo, but she chooses to ignore them. Zooni, a blind Kashmiri girl, meets Rehan Qadri (Aamir Khan), a local Delhi tour guide and an incorrigible flirt. Little does she know that these very words will shape her life. This is the advice that Zooni Ali Beg (Kajol) receives from her father just as she is about to venture out into the world on her own for the very first time. Choices: to choose between right or wrong is simple, but what defines one's life is the decision between the greater of two goods or the lesser of two evils.
